| Gurvinder lifts Umara More Kesari dangal title | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 24: Gurvinder of Garh Shanker (Punjab) clinched the 3rd Annual Umara More Kesari Dangal title outplaying Abdul Gani of Maller Kotla, again from Punjab, in the main bout played at Umara More in district Udhampur.
Gurvinder received cash prize of Rs 6,000 in additional to traditional `Silver Gurj’ (Gadda) while runners-up Abdul Gani bagged Rs. 5000 as cash prize money. In all, 61 bouts played in this one-day dangal.
State BJP vice president, Pawan Kumar Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away prizes to the winners. President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Arvind Sambyal, SHO Udhampur and Raj Kumar Buccha were the guests of honour.
This Dangal was organized by Umara More Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Earlier, the second main bout between Benia of Basantgarh and Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla ended in a tame draw after a 54 minutes marathon fight. Both these wrestlers were given away a cash prize of Rs 4,000 each. The third bout was won by Roshan Lal of Muthi (Jammu) beating Sunil Kumar of Chandigarh. In the 4th bout Onkar Singh of BSF registered victory over Succha of Taran Tarn. Qasim Din (Billu) of J&K Police won the fifth bout beating Dana of Ajnala.
Members of organizing committee and those technical officials who helped in smooth conduct of this Dangal were Amar Singh, Jagdev Singh, Kishori Lal, Hans Raj, Joginder Kumar, Roshan Singh, Mulk Raj Bhamgi, Jakker Hussian, Capt. Lehar Singh (Retd.), Ustad Kirshan Lal Sharma, Mohd. Fareed. Vijay Singh, Suram Singh, Om Parkash Verma And Allah Mai (Ranga).
