Peripheral areas’ development on priority of govt: Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 24: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that government was paying focussed attention on the development of peripheral areas on modern lines by providing better infrastructural facilities at par with major urban centres. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering at Pushap Enclave in Gangyal after inspecting the ongoing construction work of Multipurpose Community Hall, to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 29 lakh, here this morning. Bhalla said that on the completion of this Multipurpose Community Hall, the long pending demand of the people of Gangyal and its adjoining areas would be fulfilled. He said that on its completion locals would be able to arrange social as well as religious functions there on nominal charges. He said that the Government has formulated a comprehensive development plan for providing all basic amenities to the people those residing in the peripheral areas of three regions of the State. The Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir State has faced lot of difficulties during turmoil adding that scores of ongoing projects are not completed well in time. He appealed the people to cooperate with executing agencies in completing the ongoing development works within stipulated time frame. At Nanak Nagar, Sector No.10, Bhalla laid foundation stone for construction of 250 meter long link road, coming up at a cost of Rs. 6 lakh. He asked the R&B department to complete the shingling and blacktopping works within prescribed time frame. Responding to the locals demand, he asked the concerned department to prepare estimates for upgradation/improvement of Lane 4, 5, 6, 7 in Nanak Nagar locality and submit the same for funding so that the work could be started before rainy season. |
