EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 24: Arrangements with regard to security and deployment of security personnel for smooth conduct of Amar Nath Yatra-2010 were reviewed at a high level meeting held here today.
Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda chaired the meeting which was attended by senior officers of JKP and other para-military forces.
Addressing the meeting, the DGP stressed upon security and intelligence agencies to work in a close coordination with each other to ensure the ensuing Amar Nath Yatra is conducted in a befitting manner which is commencing from July 1, 2010.
He said that security and other arrangements should be made for the yatries from Lakhanpur to holy cave.
He urged the officers present in the meeting that taking benefit of previous experiences, better arrangements should be made for successful yatra. He stressed upon the intelligence agencies to gather information regarding the activities of anti-national elements and keep them under close vigil. He also said that law and order should be maintained at every cost at all levels to run the yatra smoothly.
He further said that senior officers will review the working of these Control Rooms on daily basis and will keep apprised higher authorities about the situation, he added.
The DGP urged the officers to ensure strictly that the yatries do not go head before the scheduled date of yatra which could create difficulties for both yatries as well as the administration. He also stressed for making fool-proof arrangements for smooth travel of Charri Mubarak up to the holy cave and return.
During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held with regard to communication network, regulation of traffic, parking of vehicles and mobilization on both the yatra routes of Pahalgam and Baltal.
It was decided that sufficient manpower will be deployed on both these routes to ensure the smooth flow of traffic so that yatries do not face any inconvenience. It was also decided that a better communication network system will be set up at different locations across the State up to the Holy Cave to facilitate the better coordination among the agencies. It was also decided that medical aid camps will be established by the department at various places to treat the police and other security personnel deployed for duty as well as the yatries also.
Special Yatra Control Rooms will also be opened by the department at Jammu, Baltal, Pahalgam, Anantnag, Srinagar and other places enroute the yatra to supervise the arrangements at these places. These control rooms will remain open round the clock. The control rooms will coordinate among different agencies and keep the authorities apprised about the yatra activities.
