Omar failed to provide honest, efficient administration: PDP
5/25/2010 11:27:55 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
TRAL, May 25: Lambasting National Conference led coalition regime for betraying people of Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today said that the state government has failed on all fronts to provide an honest, accountable, efficient and clean administration.
Addressing day-long convention of the party card holders at this town, PDP said that legalizing corruption is the only noticeable achievement of this regime as this government has failed to keep a check on corruption in the administration.
"Government is neck deep in corruption from top to bottom and the charges of corruption are flying in the air", she said and added that ruling elites have been brazenly indulged in accumulating huge wealth by misusing their position. She regretted that common masses in the state have been struggling with number of problems but the members of the ruling coalition have been using state resources for their personal comforts.
"Deliberately making the Accountability Commission defunct is a clear indication that the State Government is not interested in containing corruption", she said, adding, "Actions of the government reveals that this dispensation has encouraging corrupt practices".
She said that Accountability Commission which was constituted by the previous Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led government to curb corruption has been deliberately made defunct by the present dispensation. PDP chief further referred towards casual approach being adopted by the State Government towards properly implementing RTI in the State.
"Despite claims of the government, Information Commission yet to be appointed in the State and this speaks about attitude of the government", she said and added that fee for filing RTI application has increased despite being the fact that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had himself committed in the Legislative Assembly to reduce it. "Not only this government has been discouraging RTI movement in State, even RTI activists facing wrath of the authorities in general and NC workers in particular", she said.
