| KPSS alleges encroachment of Bhairav temple | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 25: Kashmiri Pandit Sangarsh Samiti (KPSS) has taken serious note of the encroachment of famous Sheetleshwar Bhairav temple, Sheetal Nath, Sathu Srinagar, which was opened by it after the gap of 20 years on the eve of Basant Panchmi for general public.
In a press statement issued here, the KPSS has appealed the district administration and district police to intervene immediately as it would not tolerate that any one whosoever is interfering in religious matters of Kashmiri Pandits. It also warned that they would initiate world-wide awareness about these anti-religious activities being allegedly facilitated by the state government and its functionaries.
"On the one hand, State Government is showing concern about the return of Kashmiri Pandits back to Valley and on the other hand pampering those forces who are involved in mass migration of the Kashmiri Pandits and then in a systematic way changing the geographical pattern of the Valley by letting them to encroach upon the religious places of the Minorities," the organization alleged. The press statement maintained, "In the month of January 2010, the famous Sheetleshwar Bhairav temple, Sheetal Nath, Sathu, Srinagar under police station Kral Khud, was opened by KPSS after the gap of 20 years on the eve of Basant Panchmi to the Kashmiri Pandit Community in particular and for public at large in general."
"During the past 20 years, the temple had been burnt thrice by the unscrupulous elements and the condition of the temple is in dilapidated condition and needs early renovation and other related things to bring back the glory of the temple and the place," it said.
The KPSS disclosed, "It came to our information the temple and its endowment property have been encroached by Ali Mohammad alias Ali Bodha of the same locality. After enquiring one Jawahir Lal Raina, who used to live in the same vicinity has given power of attorney of the temple and its endowment property to the said person i.e. Ali Mohammad."
The organization alleged, "Ali Mohammad alias Ali Bodha is now not allowing any Kashmiri Pandit inside the temple and the irony of the situation is that the both sons of the said person are Pak Trained Militants and threat that if any of Kashmiri Pandit living in the Valley enter the temple premises for its restoration or like things as the same has been sold to him by Jawahir Lal Raina."
