Akhnoon reviews development activities at Bandipore

SRINAGAR, May 25: Bandipore district has registered a remarkable achievement of spending 99.16 percent of its last years plan allocation. The district has incurred over 55.96 crores against plan allocation of Rs 56.43 crores.
This was revealed at a meeting of District Officers convened to review the development process in the district by the Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and Transport who is also the Chairman of the District Development Board, Qamar Ali Akhoon held at Bandipore today.
While giving details the meeting was informed that to improve the road connectivity in the district, 39 Kms of roads have been mecadamized , 26.83 km road length has been blacktopped and 2.55 km road made fair weather besides 39.15 km have been covered under water bound macadamization.
The meeting was told that there are 88 water supply schemes under process at the cost of Rs. 200 crore in the district. Besides, 21 water supply schemes have been completed benefiting 76000 souls of 31 villages and 17 wards of the district.
It was informed that 14 new primary schools have been opened, 20 pry schools upgraded to the level of upper pry, 15 three room buildings have been constructed for primary schools and 200 additional classrooms for Upper Primary Schools. Besides,29118 text books have been supplied to students of 3rd to 8th classes, free of cost, the meeting was told.
The meeting was informed that so far 250 damaged transformers were repaired, besides material was purchased for electrification of Buglander and Tulail area under social welfare sector various centrally schemes were implemented and financial assistant of 4.50 crore was provided to the deserving beneficiaries of the state.
It was told that 50 quintals of high breed maize and 211 quintals of hybrid seed of paddy were distributed among the farmers for improving the crop yielding in the district. Besides, 4 quintals of hybrid of potatoes were also distributed to the Bandipora farmers and 126 quintals made available to the farmers of the Gurez for seeding purpose.
The meeting was told and new orchards are being covered under technology mission area expansion while old are being revived by the horticulture department. It was said that 65000 plants were distributed on 100 % subsidy. Under diversification, 8000 plants of new varieties were distributed to the farmers. Besides unemployed youth are being imparting training under nursery development programme, for which awareness camps are being organized in the rural areas of the district.
