No factionalism in NSUI, its role of anti-national elements: Rashid | Activists stage protest, demand removal of state president | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 25: Denying any factionalism within the state unit of National Student Union of India (NSUI), its state president, Rashid Choudhary today clarified that some "disgruntled" elements of the organisation, against whom disciplinary action are pending, are working against the interest of the unit. Talking to the media persons in a hurriedly called press conference at PCC headquarters here this afternoon, the state NSUI chief even suspected the role of anti-national agencies behind these elements. "Attempts are being made to disturb the progress of NSUI and to defame the image of a decent organization. Some people belonging to Sangrash Simiti who claims to be a part of the Congress party, are trying to interfere in the internal affairs of NSUI which is highly objectionable. Ours is an autonomous organization," he said while rejecting any political interference into the working of the organisation. He made a scathing attack on NSUI leaders viz Nitish Mahajan, vice president and Abhishek Koushal and described them as "tools in the hands of some disgruntled leaders of Congress party" who are opposing PCC president, Saifuddin Soz for their vested interests. He warned that the union would not tolerate any sort of indiscipline within the organization. He also claimed, "NSUI state committee is body of twenty six members which include six vice presidents, six general secretaries, four secretaries, four Executive Members. Merely two people can't dictate the terms to twenty six member state committee." The NSUI state chief also denied that they had not burnt the posters or hoardings of Union Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad. He also condemned the protest by some of youth saying "they were not even the basic members of the NSUI." Meanwhile, some of the NSUI activists led by Abhishek Koushal, state secretary raised the banner of protest against Rashid Choudhary and demanded his removal from the post alleging he has crossed the age of 27 years and is not eligible to hold the post. The protestors urged the Sonia Gandhi, UPA Chairperson and Rahul Gandhi, All India Congress Committee general secretary, to intervene into the matter and demanded immediate removal of the state president. "The state president can not expel or suspend the state office bearer without consent and approval of national incharge J&K and national president of NSUI," they maintained.
