2nd round of NZ Sport Climbing competition held

JAMMU, May 25: Mountaineering Association today conducted its second round of Monthly Series of North Zone Sport Climbing Competition at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in the premises of Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, here. Over 100 climbers, including 23 from other states, competed in the competition.
Organised under the aegis of North Zone Sport Climbing Committee, New Delhi, the competition held in only two categories of junior and sub-junior boys as there were insufficient number of climbers in the girls categories. "Since the monthly series competition is a talent search programme of the North Zone Sport Climbing Committee, only fresh candidates were eligible for the competition," informed secretary North Zone Sport Climbing Committee, Ram Khajuria.
However, J&K climbers swept all the medals in both the categories of Junior and sub-junior boys.
However, the North Zone Committee, New Delhi has provisionally selected 15 climbers for the next round of competition at New Delhi.
The competitions were conducted under the supervision of Ram Khajuria who is also a National Judge of the game. Whereas Suraj Singh, Anil Kumar, Rahul Sharma and Akshay Kumar were the local Route Setters cum Belayers, Shawetica Khajuria, Sumit Khajuria and Neha Dutta were the judges of the competition.
Principal of Sprawling Buds School, Puja Sharma was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. She distributed medals to the winners.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Yogeshwar Kumar, vice president Mountaineering Association of J&K, O P Padha, senior vice president Tawi Trekkers, Directors of Sprawling Buds School, Arti Sharma and Rahul Sharma as also other office bearers of Mountaineering Association of J&K, Tawi Trekkers, J&K and local clubs."The purpose of the monthly series of competitions, scheduled to be organised in various states of the North Zone on rotational basis, is to provide necessary practice, competition and exposure to the budding sport climbers of each state," said Ram Khajuria.
The results:
Junior Boys: Vanish Jamwal( Shangrilla Hr. Sec. School, Jammu), Ist; Manoj Kumar (Oriental Academy), 2nd and Nishant (Shangrilla Hr. Sec. School, Jammu), third.
Sub Junior Boys: Sharad Partap Singh, Ist and Atul Singh Manhas (both of St. Xavier Convent School Jammu), 2nd and Owais Azim ( Shangrilla Hr. Sec. School, Jammu), third.
The results:
