Early Times Report
Jammu, May 26: The high court today sought personal appearance of Divisional Commissioner (Jammu). The Additional Advocate general was directed to ensure his presence on the next date of hearing in a case involving failure of the government to transfer 400 kannals of land to ministry of defense.
Land measuring 400 Kanals and 10 Marlas was allotted by the State Government to Union of India vide Govt order dated April 25, 2008. However, the land could not be transferred to army as the same was indicated to be in occupation of the ECO Task Force of Forest department.
The counsel for the state sought time to verify as to whether the land was in the possession of the forest department and what steps had been taken to transfer the said land to army.
Justice JP Singh after hearing Advocate Ajay Sharma appeared for the Union of India directed the AAG to produce the divisional commissioner in the court on next date of hearing. ---JNF
