Police recovers CAPD ration from private Mill | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, May 26: Slackness on part of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department has once again came to fore when 19 bags of wheat meant for the poor people under Public Distribution System (PDS) was recovered by police from a private flour Mill. Police sources said that a police team on specific information raided a local Mill in Dhanidhar area of Rajouri and recovered 19 bags of wheat from it. Police sources said that the seized wheat is government supply and it has sealed the Mill and initiated investigation into the case.Official sources however said that though a local ration dealer has apparently sold the government ration to the private mill, a bigger nexus of CAPD employees and private mill owners can not be ruled out. Private mill operators in connivance with CAPD officials are involved in misappropriation of the ration meant under PDS as there are reports that this illegal process is going on in the area for quite some time resulting into losses to state exchequer. Police who is investigating the matter should initiate a thorough probe to expose the real culprits. A ration dealer of the area has however been absconding from his villager after the raid which has created doubts of his involvement. Though police had raided the mill last night, it was properly sealed in the morning in presence of Magistrate .When contacted, Station House Officer Police Station Rajouri, Kewal Sharma admitted that they have recovered 19 wheat bags from the private Mill. He said that they have lodged FIR and started investigation. "We are probing the matter and cannot held anybody responsible till it is completed", he added. Police has lodged FIR No 162 in PS Rajouri and started investigation.
