Narrow escape for 100 odd people in landslide | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 26: Over 100 people, including women and children, had a narrow escape after a massive landslide, triggered by rains, damaged 20 houses at Chadiyan in Uri sector of Kashmir last evening. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Uri, Naresh Jamwal, who led a rescue team to the landslide-hit village, said no one was killed or injured in the incident. Of the 60 houses, 20 were extensively damaged and were not worth living now, he added. All the affected people had been shifted to Triganbagh, half a kilometre away from the village. They were accommodated in sheds and provided food. The Baramullah deputy commissioner B A Shah said rescue teams had been dispatched to the area, who would be helping the affected people. He said all possible help was being given to the affected families.
