3 human skeletons recovered from Kulgam | | | Early Times Report Kulgam, May 30: Discovery of a mass grave sent shock waves across Laripora village in Kulgam district today. At least four human skeletons recovered from the grave were sent for forensic examination by the police. According to reports, a dozer while working in an orchard situated adjacent to a hill unveiled a few human bones. The villagers immediately rushed to the spot and removed the soil with shovels and spades. Soon after, four human skeletons were recovered from a four feet deep trench. The police immediately took the bones into custody and sent them for forensic examination. The police also denied recovery of four skeletons. "Only one skeleton has been recovered which has been sent for examination", said a police official. Eye witnesses confirmed recovery of three skeletons. "The hands were tied with a rope. There was no flesh on the bones. Most probably the bodies have been buried ten to fifteen years before", a villager said. The police have registered a case under section 174 CrPC. Investigations have been launched. However, nobody has been taken in to custody. Local human rights defenders have demanded through investigation into the matter. "More than 8000 persons have disappeared mysteriously during the past two decades. If the identity of the deceased is ascertained, it will go a long way in solving many a disappearance case", said Parvez Imroz, a world renowned human rights defender.
