Army rescues two youth from LeT clutches in Kishtwar | | | JAMMU: Two youth, both aged 18 years, were today rescued by army from the clutches of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in Gandoh area of Kishtwar. Identified as Sakib Malik, son of Bashir Ahmed Mallik of Talogara, and Mudassar Wani, son of Anaytullah Wani of Kapari (Chilli), they were forced to join LeT ranks by one Ishaq Bhatt on May 20, according to defence PRO, Lt Col Biplab Nath. Soon after army came to know about it, senior officers contacted their parents and asked them to persuade their children to come back and join the national mainstream. After a lot of persuation and psychological pressure, the duo realised the futility of gun and returned homes, the Lt Col added. Over the years, sustained efforts of the government and security forces had resulted in reduction of terrorism, he added. Elimination of top terrorist commanders, sealing of borders by security forces and reduction in supply of warlike materials and funds had been a major contributing factor in bringing the state back to normalcy, he said. Lt Col Nath said with the elimination in large number of terrorists, and drying up of funds and war infrastructure and in a desperate effort to revive militancy in the state, militant organisations had resorted to the indoctrination of local uneducated youth from far-flung and inaccessible areas. He said the coming back of two youth had helped security forces to gain an edge over desperate efforts of various terror outfits to revitalise militancy in the state and had highlighted the moral ascendancy being enjoyed by security forces in the state.
