Anti-India meet in July: Washington has become hub of anti-India activities | STARK REALITY -- II | |
RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 30: Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai announced on May 26 that the Kashmiri-American Council and the Association of Humanitarian Lawyers would hold their "11th Annual International Kashmir Peace Conference" at Capitol Hill, Washington D C on July 29 and 30. According to him, the theme of the conference will be "India-Pakistan Relations: Breaking the Deadlock over Kashmir". The objective of this conference is to "explore various possibilities to set a stage for the settlement of the Kashmir dispute." Who will take part in this proposed anti-India conference? Kuldip Nayar, Justice Rajendar Sachar, Professor Kamal Mitra Chenoy, Rita Manchanda, Harinder Baweja, Gautam Navlakha, Prime Minister of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Geelani, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Shabir Ahmed Shah, Ved Bhasin, Jatinder Bakhshi, Professor Hameeda Bano, Basharat peer, Professor Ghulam Rasool Malik, Mian Abdul Qayyum, Yusuf Buch, Dr. Farhan Chak and Zahid G. Mohammad from India and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir; and Mohammad Afzal Sindhu, Ahsan Iqbal, Ms Maleeha Lodhi, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Dr. Attia Inaytullah, Mariana Babaar and Ahmer Bilal Soofi from Pakistan. According to Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, Professor Stanley Wolpert, Professor Stephen Cohen, Professor Richard Shapiro, Dr. Haley Duschinski, Dr. Rodney Jones, Dr. Karen Parker, Professor Angana Chatterji, Prof. Paolo Cotta-Ramusino, PUGWASH, and Ms Victoria Schofield are also to participate in the proposed conference. Besides, Dr Fai has invited the Pakistani Ambassador Hussain Haqqani and Indian Ambassador Meera Shankar. A number of expatriate Kashmiri activists, including Dr. Ghulam N. Mir, Sareer Fazili, Esq, Prof. Altaf Wani, Ali S. Khan, Dr. Khalid J. Qazi, Muzzammil Thakur and Mumtaz Wani, will also take part in the conference. This is the composition and complexion of the proposed "peace conference". There is none in this long list of invitees who would represent the Indian viewpoint on Jammu and Kashmir, leave alone Indian Ambassador Meera Shankar, who may or may not participate in the conference. Even if the Indian Ambassador takes part in the conference, Meera Shankar would have no say whatsoever. On the other hand, it would be the known supporters of Pakistan and those who have been fighting against India or those who have been denouncing the Indian State using downright language since decades who would dominate the show and indulge in India-bashing. People may say that Kuldip Nayar, Rajender Sachar, Kamal Mitra Chenoy, Rita Manchanda, Harinder Baweja, Gautam Navlakha, Ved Bhasin, Jatinder Bakshi and Angna Chaterji are Indians and, hence, they would take up the Indian cause in the proposed conference and put things in perspective. Yes, they are Indians, but only in name. They are the persons who have been consistently damaging the cause of India by putting forth obnoxious, lop-sided and essentially pro-Pakistan and pro-separatist solutions. To be more precise, they are the mouthpieces of Pakistan and the likes of Geelani, Mirwaiz, Malik and Shabir Shah. To pin faith in them would be to commit a blunder of sorts. Another striking feature of the composition and complexion of the proposed conference is that its organizers have rigorously excluded Jammu and Ladakh and the displaced Kashmiri Hindus. To call Jatinder Bakshi a Kashmiri Hindu would be a misnomer. He, like all others, including Prof Amitabh Mattoo, is the most hated person. A vast majority of his own community dismisses him with contempt and as a "mercenary". The exclusion of the suffering people of Jammu and Ladakh and displaced Kashmiri Hindus from the conference is not a mere lapse. They have been excluded them deliberately because the organizers know the presence of speakers from the nationalist Jammu and Ladakh, as also from the Jammu-based patriotic Pandit refugee camps, would defeat their anti-India and pro-Pakistan and pro-separatists evil designs, including their ill-designed formulation that Jammu and Kashmir is no different from East Timor, South Africa, and Serbia. It needs to be underlined that the organizers of the conference consider Kashmir issue far more serious given, according to them, the "nuclear and missile proliferation in the region." Thus, the anti-India elements would be there at the Capitol Hill, Washington D C, in strength. What they would suggest in July can be anticipated and guessed even today. They would suggest balkanization of India; they would direct New Delhi to accommodate the Pakistani viewpoint on Jammu and Kashmir; they would direct the Government of India to accept what the likes of Geelani, Mirwaiz, Malik, Shah and others of their ilk have been suggesting since decades; they, in short, would direct New Delhi to close down its politico-constitutional establishment in Kashmir and ask it to hand over Jammu and Kashmir to the fanatics. It is also obvious that Washington D C will be with them as before. New Delhi would do well to redesign its policy towards the United States in the light of what the latter has been doing to jeopardize the legitimate sovereign interests of the Indian nation. It can make a new beginning by refusing permission to the so-called Indian invitees to go to the United States. New Delhi should remember that the Indian nation is behind it and that what the Indian nation wants is a foreign policy that is based on the six cardinal principles: India is a state, Indians are a nation, Indian State has definite borders, Indians are one people, India is a sovereign country and no compromise on Jammu and Kashmir or any other part of India.
