EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 31: Students of Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) Jammu today held a protest demonstration against Jammu University (JU) authorities.
The students of college boycotted their classes and raised slogans against JU under the banner of Jammu Joint Students' Federation (JJSF).
The agitating students said that withdrawing supplementary examination by the University authorities is totally unfair to engineering students.
They further said that JU issued a notice regarding the cancellation of supplementary exam system.
The students first gathered in the college premises where the agitating students tried to talk to Principal about the matter but all in vain as Principal was not willing to hear the voice of agitating students.
After this the agitating students reached University campus. A group of agitating students moved towards Controller of Examinations' office to meet the Controller but did not succeed.
Then the group of protesting students arrived at office of the Dean Students' Welfare Office and conveyed their concern to him.
Dean Students Welfare assured the students that JU will soon take action over this issue.
State Vice President, JJSF, Partap Singh Jamwal said that JU is playing with the sentiments of students pursing technical education and being discriminatory with them. Jamwal demanded that University authorities should take necessary steps to solve this issue otherwise JJSF would intensity its protest against JU.
