Indefinite stir enters day 7; Admn yet to wake up | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT MAJALTA, May 31: Despite indefinite strike of Majalta people outside Niabat Headquarters, Deot, which entered seventh consecutive day, the administration is yet to come out with a plausible work-out of the stalemate over here. The indefinite stir is being led by R S Pathania, a lawyer and prominent political activist of the area. People have sought a special package for Majalta Tehsil so as to make operational newly-upgraded Majalta tehsil in a most effective and target-oriented way. R S Pathania demanded that although a full-fledged tehsil has come up at Majalta an year back but same is in doldrums due to lack of requisite infrastructure. People on strike demanded opening up of Tehsil-related offices in Majalta and inquiry into bunglings committed by PHE Department in laying of water-supply scheme at Deot-Pathwar-Bilaspur. Pathania alleged that crores of rupees have been spent for providing water in the area but result on ground is negligible. He further demanded sanctioning of Lift Water Supply scheme at Khoon wherefrom water could be pumped to Pathwar, Palnoo, Deot, Bilaspur and Sehal villages. Protesting locals also expressed dissatisfaction with implementation of NREGA and demanded shifting of BDO office, Horticulture office and Cooperatives office within the jurisdiction of Majalta Tehsil. They demanded re-demarcation of Majalta Tehsil as some of the areas sharing cultural, historical, linguistic, living style and distance proximities with Majalta have wrongly been dissociated from the newly sanctioned Tehsil. People have stuck to their demand that unless some tangible action is shown from the administrative side, they will not lift the Dharna.
