Rasheed seeks permission for peaceful protest | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, May 31: MLA Langate Er S A Rasheed today sought permission from the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar for holding a peaceful protest demonstration on the eve of prime minister's visit to Kashmir. In his application to Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Rasheed sought permission to hold a peaceful protests demonstration in Lal Chowk or near Raj Bhawan, against the alleged murder of three youth of Nadihal and unabated human rights violations. "I want to draw the attention of the Prime Minister towards the killing of three innocent youth of Nadihal, the continuing human rights violation by security forces and forced labour which people of my constituency suffered at the hands of army for 13 long years," Rasheed said. He said as a responsible public representative, I have the right to protest against human rights abuses at the hands of security forces. Pertinent to mention that following his complaint in the SHRC regarding forced labour, J&K Police in its investigation report to the SHRC has admitted that people of Mawer in Langate constituency were taken for forced labour by army for 13 years without any remuneration. "Now that my complaint has been proved, the Prime Minister should apologize to people and compensate them," Rasheed said. Hence I am holding a peaceful protest demonstration during the PM's visit.
