Affectionate send off to Dr Mattoo

Srinagar, May 31: Dr Jawahar Lal Mattoo, Director Animal Husbandry, Kashmir who relinquished his office today on attaining the age of superannuation, was given an affectionate sendoff by his colleagues under the aegis of J&K Veterinary Doctors' Association here on the lawns of picturesque Nageen Club. Dr J L Mattoo had taken over the reins of the department last year on this very day. His service career spanned over 36 years as he had joined the department in June 1974 after his graduation from College of Veterinary Sciences Hissar. He worked in different capacities in the department and had the distinction of working in all the three geographic regions of the state. Besides being the director of the department he held the charge of Chief Executive Officer, Livestock Development Board, Kashmir. Speakers on the occasion recounted the significant contribution of Dr Mattoo to the development of the department and implementation of various prestigious state and centrally sponsored programmes. Dr Ishfaq Ahmad Phalgroo, President of the JKVDA speaking on the occasion hailed Mattoo's contribution in forging unity among rank and file of the department and carrying everybody along with. Other who spoke on the occasion included Dr R L Khar, Director, Sheep Husbandry, Mr Javaid Iqbal Mattoo, Joint Director Planning, Dr F A Kaloo, Dy Director, AH Department, Dr A R Mir, BVO , Kupwara and Dr Syed Anjum Andrabi, Technical Officer who described him as an honest and upright officer who possesses insatiable desire to work for the people. His contribution to the development of the state of art Semen laboratory at Ranbir Bagh, Poultry Farm Achabal and other developmental works were hailed by one and all. Dr Mattoo, in his parting remarks hailed the support and cooperation from his colleagues. He turned emotional on the occasion and said that he would be missing the affectionate company of his friends and colleagues.
