Stop functioning of stone crushers

Kathua, June 2: Illegally establishing stone crusher units in middle of river Ravi by some business houses of the neighboring state of Punjab has been widely condemned by the J&K Mahila Sahyog Mandal. Addressing a press conference president of the mandal, Kailash Kumari said both district administration and state government government is sleeping over it, as functioning of stone crushers will harm the existence of river Ravi. She said, extraction of sand, stone etc material form the bed of the river has turned river into a big and deep gorges, which puts water level down and becomes very risky at the time of flood. She urged upon the J&K government as well as to district administration to impose ban on stone crushers immediately and save the river Ravi. She said if government fails to take action against stone crushers mandal will be forced to launch mass movement against this present in the conference were Dr. R.K Suri, Pushpa Devi, Rano Devi and Madhu Rani.
