DGAFMS visits military hospital | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jun 2: The Director General force medical services (DGAFMS) and senior colonel commandant of the Army Medical Corps, visited military hospital, Jammu here yesterday. Lt Gen Parmar joined the army medical corps in July 1970 and he saw action in the 1971 war and for his gallantry he was awarded the Vir Chakra and he is post graduate in hospital administration. During his 40 years of service he held much prestigious appointment. He was professor and Head of hospital Administration in AFMC Pune, DDGMS (Pers) at Army HQ, Commandant, Command Hospital Kolkata and MG (Med) Easter Command. He was DGMS (Army) from June 1st 2008 and was appointed DGAFMS on 1 June 2009. He is also the honorary surgeon to the president of India and is a member of the board of national accreditation board fro hospitals (NABH) and the governing council of the national board of examinations. He also an alumnus of the prestigious national defence college. During the visit he was accompanied by the commandant Brig AK Das, Maj Gen SK Nema, and Brig Bansal, Brig Med 16 crops also accompanied him. The visiting officer was appraised the new hospital project and functioning of the ECHS. The general was very appreciative of the professionalism and commended the excellent work by all ranks in providing patient care and attending to the casualties in this hospital which is one of the busiest hospitals in the Armed forces. He also addressed all medial and nursing officers of the station, and spoke about the modernization of armed forces hospitals and sanctioned several medical equipment for the hospital.
