Functioning of labour, fund departments reviewed | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jun 2: Emphasizing the strict implementation of 20 Acts of Labour department at the ground level, the Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik said that effort have already been initiated for streamlining the functioning of labour and Fund departments. The Minister said this while reviewing the functioning of Labour and Fund departments of the state here at Srinagar last evening. After reviewing the overall performance of labour and provident fund departments, Malik directed to frame a state level committee to examine the smooth functioning of these departments in the state and issued instructions to speed up the process. He further said that there is dire need to gear up and streamline the functioning of both departments for effective results. Malik exhorted upon the Assistant Labour Commissioners for strict enforcement of 20 Acts of the labour department to ensure its implementation at the grass root level. The state level committee would give its remarks after examining of all cases within weeks time so that further mechanism be adopted for encouraging results. Malik further directed for holding of seminars in colleges and schools to provide awareness about the child labour and complaints be registered from the general public in this behalf so that the menace of child labour be checked across the state. He instructed the officers to work with honesty, dedication and transparency and make the functioning of labour and provident fund departments more effective.
