383 CRPF recruits ready to make supreme sacrifices | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 2: It was a dream comes true for 383 new recruits to formally become part of CRPF when they today participated in the passing out parade at Recruit Training Centre (RTC) at Humhama in Badgam, Kashmir. During the 44-week-long rigorous training, the recruits from different parts of the country were also given lectures on human rights (HR). Smartly dressed, the recruits took oath to make supreme sacrifices for the unity and integrity of the country, before participating in the march past of 78th batch of CRPF which has risen from one batallion in 1939 to 213 batallions in 2010. These included ten Rapid Action Force (RAF) Bns, 3 mahila Bns, two Disaster Management (DM) Bns and 12 Special Action Force (SAF) Bns. Even though belonging to different parts of the country with different languages, the recruits felt proud after joining CRPF when they participated in the final march past after taking oath. The institution had so far trained 15,221 recruits, RTC principal, DIG Bhupinder Singh said. It was sanctioned on April 1, 1990 and became functional at Awantipora in Kashmir on May 7, 1992. However, it was later shifted to Humhama on March 29, 1994. He said during the rigorous training of 44 weeks, the recruits were trained, not only in handling weapons, PT, battle obstacles and law, but also HRs and Disaster Management to make them peacekeepers. Singh said, "Our constant endeavour has been to shape them up as efficient members of the force to face the challenges effectively.'' The principal said the CRPF envisioned to be progressively dynamic force with congruent response capabilities to neutralise emerging challenges to internal security. Sitaram Khatik , a recruit from Ajmer in Rajasthan, won all round best, outdoor best and indoor best awards, while best shot award went to Vimal Kumar Nayak of Orissa.
