Foundation stone politics heats up in Poonch
Cong leader ‘forcibly’ inaugurates Loran Dak Bunglow
6/4/2010 11:19:31 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, June 4: Politics of laying foundation stones for projects and race for inauguration ceremonies have gained momentum in the border district Poonch. In the game of one up man show, the war of accusations and counter accusations has also begun among leaders of various parties.
A senior Congress leader of the status of Minister of State has reportedly affixed inauguration stone on his name on the Dak Banglow Loran building whereas the same was planned to be inaugurated by Minister for R&B Ghulam Mohammad Saroori according to the Public Works Department. On the other hand Congress leader Bashir Naz has alleged that National Conference workers have torn the flags of Congress and have removed hoardings of Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Congress PCC Chief Saif-ud-Din Soz in Poonch district.
Sources in PWD Poonch told Early Times that Congress leader Bashir Ahmed Naz has recently affixed inauguration plaque inscribed with his name on Dak Banglow Loran- which according to PWD officials is incomplete and R&B Minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori had to inaugurate it next month. Sources said that Bashir Naz "forcibly" inaugurated the Dak Banglow "at mid night " recently.
Executive Engineer PWD Poonch has also written a letter to Deputy Commissioner Rajouri and copied the same to Superintendent Engineer Rajouri informing them that this inauguration was "fake" and the stone was affixed "forcibly" in the Dak Banglow Loran. "Yes Bashir Naz Sahab affixed the stone which was to be inaugurated by our Minister", Superintendent Engineer Rajouri Poonch Sarda Nandan said adding that there is a government circular that any building will either be inaugurated by Chief Minister or the concerned minister. "There is also a provision for any body else authorized by the minister", he said.
Bashir Ahmed Naz, Member Legislative Council of Congress who is having status of Minister of State when contacted admitted of having inaugurated this building . "I have done no crime but it is wrong to say that it was inaugurated at mid night. Around 4000 people were accompanying me along with Executive Engineer R&B and Additional DC Poonch and it was publicly inaugurated on the request of locals", Naz said adding "the building was complete and I inaugurated it for use". However SE PWD said that the building is still incomplete and it needs at least one month for all works to complete.
Meanwhile Bashir Naz has directly targeted his coalition partner MLA of National Conference Ajaiz Ahmed Jan. "Jan has launched propaganda against me", Naz alleged adding that he (Jan)was working against the health of the coalition and he is propagating wrong messages against the Congress leaders.
Targeting local NC leaders, Bashir Naz said "they have torn Congress flag on the house of a Congress worker Mohammad Akram Lone few days ago the case of which already stands registered in Police Station". He said that these people have also removed hoardings of Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saif-Ud-Din Soz in the area and he is going to lodge protest with Chief Minister and Congress President Sonia Gandhi in this regard. "This is a cheap game being played by some NC men and they are working against their own coalition", he said.
National Conference MLA Ajaiz Ahmed Jan when contacted outrightly refuted the allegation against his party men. "Our party is disciplined party and we believe in giving respect to all", Jan said adding The allegations leveled by Congress leaders against NC workers are totally wrong. Jan said that he is working on ground in his area for the sake of giving some relief to common masses. "I am an elected representative of people and I do not believe in party politics in public works" Jan said. However he expressed his ignorance over fixation of separate stones in Loran Dak Banglow or the incidents of tearing Congress flags. "I only know that some foundation stones laid by Minister for R&B Ghulam Mohammad Saroori have been removed by some people only because there was my name written on these stones", he said. In the same breath he added that he has no rift with Bashir Ahmed Naz and he respects him.
