Constitute central teams to assess loss: BJP urges PM
Holds Coalition govt responsible for tragedy with Gujjars, Bakerwals and Gaddies

JAMMU, June 4: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today held National Conference led coalition government responsible for tragedy with Gujjars and Bakerwals in the state particularly erstwhile Doda district.
The Party has urged the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for constituting special central teams to assess the quantum of loss to the property of Gujjars, Bakerwals and other people living in far-flung areas which occurred due to heavy snowfall and flash floods. The Party has also appealed to the Prime Minister to seek an explanation from the state government for its alleged "indifferent" and "callousness" attitude that led to the loss of human lives and livestock.
Talking to media persons here, Bali Bhagat, state vice president, criticized the Congress-National Conference coalition government for its "indifferent" and "irresponsible" attitude towards the sufferers of the recent heavy hail storms, rains, unprecedented lightening and untimely snow fall in the mountain areas.
The BJP leader charged that coalition government with its failure to discharge its constitutional duty to come to the rescue of the people in their hour of distress.
He also urged the PM to announce a special package to the sufferers of this natural calamity during his forthcoming visit to the state next week.
Bali Bhagat alleged that he was astonished to observe that what to talk of CM or Deputy Chief Minister not any minister has bothered even to visit the affected areas of erstwhile Doda district, Udhampur and other parts of the state.
Expressing his sympathy with the nomadic families of Gujjars, Bakerwals and Gaddies who have reportedly suffered a huge loss of live stock in Warwan and other highland pastures and suggested that special teams of doctors and Veterinary Surgeons be airlifted alongwith sufficient quantity of life saving drugs to these areas.
The former MLA has asked for convening special state legislature session for evolving an appropriate strategy to respond to the natural calamity and also sought sending an all party delegation to the affected areas to asses the situation on spot.
