SRS seeks support for Jammu bandh on June 12 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 4: In the backdrop of its call for Jammu bandh on June 12, Shri Ram Sena (SRS) today sought the support from all political, non-political and social parties. In a press statement issued here today, Rajiv Mahajan, state president SRS, made a fervent appeal to all Jammu based political and social outfits to work in the interest of the pilgrims who will visit the shrine of Amarnath this year during the upcoming annual pilgrimage. He said, "It is in great interest of the business establishment, traders, hawkers, Shikarawallas, taxi men, hoteliers and restaurant owners to welcome the pilgrims visiting the holy shrine at Kashmir." Mahajan said that the SRS has continuously been making efforts and approaching the administration of the State government for the exemption of Toll Tax on the vehicles which are loading the food grains for use in free langar, in Jammu and Kashmir and also for the exemption of the security from the parties or persons who are establishing free langars, to encourage for establishing free langars for the pilgrims of Amarnath yatra. He said, "By observing Jammu Bandh on June 12, 2010, there would be lose of crores of rupees in Jammu, the administration of State government should realize that on one hand if there is loss to the State government for few lakhs rupees which the government is charging in the shape of security and toll tax, but on the other hand the government is loosing crores of rupees transaction in business in Jammu." "It would be in the interest of the State government in particular and in the interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, in general to exempt the security from those who want to establish free langars for the yatries and for the exemption of the Toll Tax at Lakhanpur," he maintained.
