Anveshan-2010 inaugurated in JU | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 4: To promote the scientific temperament and other research related activities, the University of Jammu in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities organized two days long 3rdNorth Zone Student Research Convention, Anveshan-2010, which was inaugurated here today. The Minister of Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, J& K state R. S. Chib was the chief guest and was presided over by Vice- Chancellor, JU Prof. Varun Sahni. The objectives of the convention are to identify young talents with research aptitude and interest to take up research as career, to promote the talent in research throughout the country, to nurture the talent through specialized training and education in some of the nationally and internationally reputed premier institutions of higher learning in the country, to augment financial and physical resources through collaboration with different sponsors for supporting education and training of young researchers, to provide proper incentives to enhance the skill of potential students, and to initiate an intensive research culture in a selected group of institutions. Pertinently, participants attending the function came from various parts of the northern region of the country such as Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. About thirty projects were received spanning over the fields of basic sciences, applied sciences and engineering discipline. Rajnikant, the co-coordinator of the programme presented the welcome address. S K Khosa, coordinator of the programme threw light on objectives of the Student Research Convention. The participants were also addressed by the Minister, R. S. Chib, Varun Sahni, Honorable Vice- Chancellor, University of Jammu and R. D. Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu.
