Chib inaugurates Surgical Skill Training Center at GMC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 4: Minister for Medical & Technical Education, R S Chib today inaugurated a Surgical Skill Training Centre in Government Medical College. This centre being set up by scientific support from Johnson and Johnson is first of its kind in the state and 3rd in North India. On the occasion, Principal Government Medical College Dr. Rajinder Singh, Head of the Department Surgery, Dr. Rakesh Saraf, Faculty members, and staff of Medical College were also present. After inaugurating the Surgical Training Centre, Minister was apprised about the new techniques and advantages of laparoscopic surgery which is also known as Minimally Invasive Surgery. According to the Principal, GMC Surgical Skill Training Centre will impart training in laparoscopic surgery, micro-surgery and other essential procedures of general surgery to surgeons in the state. He said that technical staff will also be trained for proper maintenance of equipment and instruments. The Minister said that such initiatives will play a major role in enhancing the professional expertise of the doctors in the state and they can avail the benefits of these training programmes within their own state.
