Speak India Environmental Foundation holds dharna | | | Early Times Report Kathua , June 6: Continuing its campaign to save the river Raavi, Speak India Environmental Foundation organized a Dharna at the Lakhanpur to appraise the State Government and the Local Administration about the intensity of the digging activities carried out by the stone crusher holders and vested interests. The process of digging out of sand and stones from the river Raavi has affected the water level of the river. Shashi Sharma, General Secretary of the foundation led the dharna and while addressing the activists and media persons said that,” the process of devastation being carried out in the river Raavi has reached the all time high as the network of mafia and vested interests are hell bent to erase the appearance of the Raavi." Spokesperson of the foundation, Mahesh Kaul said that," there is an urgent need for the State Government to intervene in the matter as the violators carrying out the devastation in the Raavi river have nexus across the borders in Punjab. The state government needs to take up the matter with the Government of Punjab as well."
