Natrang stages comedy play ‘Beemar’ | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 6: ‘Bemaar’ a play in Urdu written by Sadat Hassan Manto and adapted & directed by Sumeet Sharma was staged here at Natrang Studio Theatre in its weekly Sunday Theatre series. After celebrating 300 performances of Sunday Theatre series plays last week at Abhinav Theatre in a grand way, today’s performance exhibited the continued enthusiasm of the team to present consistent cultural extravaganza to the people of Jammu. In the play, ‘Kumar’ who wants to enjoy the festival of Colors, Holi, is not feeling well even after taking some medicines. He becomes an opportune lab. testing animal for everyone around him and all his acquaintances practice their skills of prescribing panacea on him. Inspite of having cough, he is suggested to eat sour things like tamarind etc. reason being, ‘diamond cuts diamond’. He is made to consume rotten vegetables and a lot of weird items. Even after doing variegated treatment, his condition deteriorates which frustrates him and he resolves to go for one single logical treatment. At the end, he is so frustrated that he considers a person who has come to his home to ask some address to be a new suggestion provider and thus This play suggests in a very humorous manner that we should not be so unstable that we are carried away by anybody’s suggestions (relevant or irrelevant). Mohit Sharma as ‘Kumar’ reflected his versatility as an actor, he was equally supported by Rohit Verma as ‘Madhoo’, Vikram Sharma as ‘Rashid’, Pankush Verma as ‘Bedi’, Rajni Bhatti as ‘Aapa’, Bela Thappa as ‘Sarita’ & Gaurav Jamwal as ‘Narayan’. Lights were operated by Gaurav Jamwal.
