Shastri welcomes PM visit to valley | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 6: welcoming the visit of the prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh to Kashmir valley president of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri, has appealed him to provide a special financial package of Rupees five thousand crore to Jammu and Kashmir for fully expenditures for implementation of 6th pay commission recommendations in favour of state government employees and pensioners. Addressing NMC workers rally at Rani Park here today, Shastri pleaded for liberal funding to J&K so that beside providing all benefits of the commission to the state government employees and pensioners as well as payment of arrears on account of pay revision. Shastri also urged Dr Singh to declare Jammu and Srinagar B-I cities of state during his visit. He said that giving B-I status to both capital cities would ensure more flow of funds for upgrading the cities. He said since cost of living also increased in Srinagar and Jammu, it will benefit salaried class with increasing HRA and CCA he said for being given B-I status both cities have required norms including population. Shastri also appreciated chief minister for taking keen interest in addressing the demands of salaried class and urged him for resolving other demands at the earliest. Among those who also addressed the rally included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Sham Lal Sharma, Jeevan Kumar, Bhupinder Singh, Mohan Lal Sharma, Chaman Lal Bhagat, Sukh Dev Singh, Subash Chander and Barkat Ram etc.
