| One held with 40 kg poppy straw | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 06: A narcotic smuggler was arrested by police and CRPF on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Patnitop late last night along with 40 kilograms of poppy straw.
He was identified as Bashir Ahmed, son of Mirza Boked of Gadveil Vailoo in Anantnag.
Police sources said Bashir had brought the consignment in seven bags from Srinagar three days back and dumped it at Patnitop. However, when he loaded the bags in truck (JK03B/0718) last night, cops seized the consignment on a tip-off.
Bashir was also arrested and the truck seized, the sources added. A case was registered against him under 8/15 NDPS Act at Kud policestation.
