The reality existing here sounds ironical in the wake of big claims of the government when it talks of providing better Medicare to the people. The fact remains consciously or otherwise, it is neglecting some important fields including physiotherapy which is very useful and inseparable part of medicine in present times. The apathy on the part of state government is reflected from the fact that they have not created a post of physiotherapist in the Medical and Heath Department. It is pertinent to mention here that physiotherapists work with patients of all ages and deal with a range of conditions affecting the soft tissues, joints, bones, nervous system, Heart and lungs. They treat joint and spinal problems and help people overcome the effects of falls, sports injuries or other accidents. They also work in health promotion, leading community exercise programmes and back care classes. Self-employed physiotherapists may have more flexibility, though they often need to work at hour's suit patients, including evening. Physiotherapists work in clinics and heath centers, GP Practices, hospitals, patients' homes and other community settings such as sports centers. A physiotherapist needs to be good at listening, explaining and motivating, able to establish a good rapport with patients, comfortable with hands-on patient contact, an able to work well alone and within a team. On the conditions a Anonymity many physiotherapists said that they have approached the state government and have met the concerned minister for adjustment in the Department, but every time they give same reply, that it will be done. So far, no post of physiotherapist has been created in any of the hospitals. Talking to Early Times, Subash Bhagat Medical superintendent, Gandhi Nagar Hospital said, " we don't have any post for physiotherapy. However, we are taking services from a well trained physiotherapist, in Gandhi Nagar hospital who is also taking care of patients. Hospital staff is also assisting her in job. He further explained the physiotherapy Department Opens at eight in the morning and continue up to 12.30 P.M. in OPD section everyday larger number of patients avail facilities at physiotherapy centre at nominal charge which have been introduced recently. "If we compare to market rates, our rates are very cheap", Dr Bhagat said adding that there should be a permanent post of physiotherapist in this hospital and other hospitals also, but that decision has to be taken by the government.
