EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 6: Just before the Prime Minister of India's scheduled visit to the state, two young Turks, one from the governance and the other from the opposition having exchanged views and counter views over the state of affairs through letters attributing different causes like Human rights violations, unabated killings and fake encounters in the state being prime cause of concern, the exercise done by both is being considered to be stage-managed.
How suddenly, out of blues, at the fag end of country's supremo's visit to the valley, Mehbooba Mufti arose out of her self to dart a letter to Chief Minister asking the latter for convening of a special, session of LA citing 'some significant issues on HR having left unattended' .
Also her representation on repealing of AFSPA and CM's urgency in replying her concern, thou-gh containing a bit of blame-game also, was well loaded with an open hint to the coming chief about the necessity of doing the same to save the situation in valley.
Mehbooba's volley to CM saying, "Young men are being sold and purchased for outright slaughter and their own elected government seems blissfully engaged in games of survival and comforts of power," is understood to be a strong message being conveyed to the Prime Minister, through the mouth of Mehbooba, but definitely under the approval of the Chief Minister.
"How can a simple reader may see between the lines that what political gimmicks are all about," was a gullible answer from a septuagenarian retired central government employee Radha Krishan who presented a dumbstruck impression when roped in for a discussion on the hot debate over the letters exchanging between the two 'foes in friends' regarding 'a serious concern of state of affair" here.
"Are there any doubts in your mind about the need for invoking the law that deal with murder?," contains the letter addressed to CM and includes, "You had, not so long back accused your opponents of making the blood of Kashmiris cheap. It seems your government is out as the custodian of their lives to make their blood completely worthless. Otherwise, one would have expected a response other than the routine."
In its reciprocation Omar's reply flowed, "I do not think it appropriate or necessary to get into a blame game about the history of invoking AFSPA in the state except to say that it is unfortunate that nothing was done about AFSPA in the five and a half years that were available to you".
Now into this backdrop of alleged criss-cross between Mehbooba and Omar, what genuinely suffers and who comfortably wins in the wake of prime Minister's visit here is a million dollars query looking forward for an answer.
Though being directly disproportionately placed to each other in political dispensation of the state, Omar and Mehbooba reflect two poles apart, but the actual chemistry of both have a 'common salt of sweet friendship' that is not a pen secret among the people.
Circa 2008: If Mehbooba lived the hallucination of skipping past Indian boundaries into Pakistani soils, Omar had sounded clarion call for not providing an inch of land to his pupil on their very own land. And now both concerned for HRV in valley and stage-manning a common drama through letters to influence Central leadership, PM cannot be that simpleton not to gauge through. They say time is a great dispenser.
