Senior cops, jawans heave a sigh of relief | PM visit concludes | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 8: Senior police officers and men of security forces today evening heaved a sigh of relief at the end of the two-day-long visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to Kashmir valley. Even though elaborate security arrangements were in place in and around the main venue of the PM's engagements the normal life was thrown out of gear due to security restrictions and general strike call given by the separatists. The PM visited the Kashmir valley amidst soaring tensions in the backdrop of discovery of fake encounter case. High alert was sounded and the strict vigil was in place across the Kashmir valley following reports of major strike by the militant outfits. Even the senior army officials have issued warnings of possible terror strike coinciding with the visit of PM. Immediately after PM left the valley several senior police officers heaved a sigh of relief and jawans deployed on sensitive security duties were seen relaxing and breathing fresh air. Official sources said, after attending the Convocation ceremony and meeting political delegations of various parties and other groups the Prime Minister relaxed for a while in the serene environs of Kashmir and went back refreshed despite hectic schedule. The security forces tasked for the job of securing the PM's route were also relieved at the end of the high profile visit, official sources said.
