| Rally cum awareness drive organized on environment week | | | Early times Report
JAMMU, Jun 8: The Directorate of environment and remote sensing in collaboration with department of environment sciences, department of geology, department of student welfare and NSS wing of University of Jammu, organized a Rally cum awareness drive to celebrate the environment week in the university campus here today.
Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu Varun sahni flagged off the rally from the administrative block which went through the different departments of the Campus, students form various disciplines of the University and Heritage School Sainik colony Jammu participate in the rally raised the various slogans to save the environment Prof. Sahni, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Stressed upon the need of synchronization between environment and development. He impressed upon the students and researchers to come up with efficient management techniques to combat the fast emerging environmental implications. The function was attended by the prominent citizens, faculty members, students, scholars of various department of the University of Jammu. Presentations on various aspects of the environment were made by Porf. Shashi Kant, Prof R.K. Ganjoo, Dr. Neeraj Sharma and Sarveshwar Rai, Regional Director, Directorate of environment and remote sensing, Jammu. The technical deliberations were followed by a pledging ceremony to ensure full commitment of the responsible citizens for the protection of environment.
R.C Sharma Dy. Conservator of forest and staff form directorate of environment and remote sensing, coordinated the programme, Dr. Anil K. Raina, Head, Department of environment sciences welcome the audience while Prof. G.M Bhat, presented the Vote of thanks.
