PM assures justice to Paharies
Jan demanded Railway Line to Poonch, International Airport Status for Jammu Airport

Rajouri, June 8: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has reportdely assured Pahari communuty for granting them scheduled tribe status besides has apperciated the role of Paharies in bringing normalcy to the state. Sources said that a deputation of Pahari communuty led by Chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Pahari Cultural and Welfare Forum Mushtaq Bukhari met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at SKICC at about 1:30 PM today and aprrised him about the long pending demand of Pahari community who are striving hard for scheduled tribe status. The deputation included Minister of State Shabir Ahmed Khan, Vice Chairman State Kissan Board Rachpal Singh, MLA Haveli Ajaiz Jan, MLC Jahangir Mir, Aman Josh, Lokesh Sharma, Iqbal Malik and various other Pahari leaders. Prime Minister has also apperciated the role of Pahari community in bringing normalcy to the state. Mushtaq Bukhari who was heading the deputation told Early Times that PM has assured them of delivering justice to the Pahari community. "We have assured that our main demand of granting ST status will be considered in near future", Mushtaq Bukhari said thanking PM for his patient hearing to the Pahari people. Bukhari said that PM apperciated the role of Pahari community in bringing normalcy to the state during the last 20 years of militancy. He said that they have invited PM to visit Rajouri Poonch and acess the situation of Paharies in the area. He added that they apprised the PM about all facts and figures and he listened patiently. Meanwhile on the sidelight of National Conference deputation which met PM, MLA Poonch Aijaz Jan apprised him about the various issues in jammu province and poonch district in particular. Jan demanded train connectivity to the twin districts of Rajouri Poonch to enable them to join the national main stream. the area bain hilly and far flung has remained militancy infested for more than two decades needs a special package in terms of employment and development to bring the people of rajouri and poonch out of despair and turmoil. the legislator demanded compensation and a rehabilitation package for all the houses that were unfortunately left beyond the fence lines that their problems of routine nature could be solved and in that poonch district should be given top priority because more than 60% of people fall in below poverty line category thereby putting an end to their miseries. He also demnded that the Jammu airport should be raised to international standards to avoid mangalore like tragedies and night laanding facilities available with us should be put to use by starting night services between Jammu Delhi Bangalore and Mumbai.
