Burglars decamp with cash from temple
6/8/2010 11:45:46 PM
UDHAMPUR: Having already struck at three religious places, including the famous Devika temple and a gurdwara, burglars decamped with a donation box from a Shani Dev temple here last night.
The Shani Dev temple is situated near the railway station here. That the burglars had struck at it became known when the priest came to the temple in the morning, police sources said.
He immediately brought the matter to the notice of police, the sources added.
Sources said when cops visited the temple, they found that the burglars had decamped with the donation box and some other articles.
Quoting the priest, sources said the donation box contained thousands of rupees as it had not been opened for the past about three years. Though police had registered a case in this connection, no arrest had so far been made.
This was the fourth burglary in a religious place in Udhampur town. The locals have expressed strong anguish over these thefts.
