Baba Buddha Amarnath Yatra to commence from Aug 12 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 9: The annual Baba Buddha Amarnath pilgrimage to a shrine devoted to Hindu God Shiva, located in the north east of bordering Poonch district, would start from August 12 and last till August 20 this year. This was disclosed by Madhya Pradesh (MP) central president of Bajrang Dal (BD), Rajesh Pandey, who is also the She-Prabhari (co-incharge) of Jammu and Kashmir while talking to media persons here today. Flanked by BD state president, Nand Kishore Mishra and other leaders, he said that nearly 15,000 Bajrang Dal activists from different parts of the country would make arrangement for this year's pilgrimage along with civil administration. Pandey, while giving information about pilgrimage, said, "We are expecting that nearly two-lakh pilgrims would visit the ancient shrine in border Poonch district which is considered as holy as that of Amarnath cave shrine in Kashmir valley." "Our activists would provide logistic help to the pilgrims along with the administration. Special langers would also be set up so that pilgrims get every facility on way to the shrine," Pandey said. He said that yatra would start from August 12 till August 20 during which they would ensure that pilgrims who visit the shrine get every facility and help. "Lot of people across the country are showing their interest in visiting the shrine and Bajrang Dal and Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists have been asked to gear up so that the yatra could go smoothly. He said, "The district administration has assured us of full support. We have urged the authorities to create necessary infrastructure at all the religious places associated with Hindus in the state so that people from across the country could visit them." "There are number of religious sites in Jammu and Kashmir which have so far not been managed properly and need lot of renovation from the government. We demand that government should provide special funds for the same", said Bajrang Dal leader. Buddha Amarnath Temple is an ancient Shiva temple located at the confluence of two streams - the Nallah Gagri and the Pulstaya Nallah.
