JU hostel warden refutes allegations | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 9: A day after boarders of Chandrabhaga Girls Hostel, University of Jammu leveled serious allegations against the warden Dr Sushma Gupta, the latter today described such accusations as "baseless" and "unfounded." She also threatened to initiate legal action against all those occupants who have made such charges. "The accusations made by the hostel occupants have pained me as I have been working a warden for the last 10 ten years. I have served as resident warden for eight years and if I was physically and mentally unfit, I was not in a position to serve this institution in better way," Dr Gupta told Early Times. "They have tried to defame me and tarnish my image in the society. I have decided to take legal action against the boarders who have leveled such allegations," she said. The warden further said, "One of the occupants, Bhavna Gupta, who got selected in government job few months back, was not ready to vacate the hostel even after several orders and requests. When we asked her to vacate the hostel, she provoked other girls' occupants against me and the Provost of the hostel which led to whole controversy." She further said, "Bhavna along with other occupants have accused me of physically and mentally unfit. Over 50 scholars of the varsity are still in waiting list as they have not been provided hostel facilities. There are 30 boarders in the hostel who have been serving as government employees but they have not vacated their respective hostel. When we asked them to either vacate the hostel or accommodate the scholars who are waiting lists, they have created this controversy and accused me of using abusive language." The warden said, "I have served this institution as an upright and dedicated professor and I don't want to be the warden of this hostel. I have already sent a refusal to the Vice Chancellor for holding the post of warden, besides asking the authorities for allotting me residential quarter." It may be mentioned here that the occupants of the hostel, through an press statement, had accused the warden of using abusive language with the boarders and had demanded her resignation
