Early Times Report
Ramnagar, June 9: Prominent lawyer and noted Youth Congress activist from Ramnagar, R.S. Pathania, flayed the local administration for unleashing maladministration, mis-governance and lawlessness in the area. He was conducting an extensive 5-day tour of the area during which he addressed largely-attended public meetings at Rani Park, Ramnagar, Basan-tgarh, Mang, Khaned, Ponara, Tamrein, Raichak, Lodhra, Chatrari, Majori, Kaitha, Gandh Top and Dudu. He alleged that the local legislator has failed to come up to the expectations pf his constituency and has not been able to meet the needs of the hilly assembly segment. Despite six decades of democratic rule, people living in the area remain bereft of basic facilities of life like clean drinking water, regular electricity supply, road connectivity, human and animal healthcare, and educational, recreational and employment facilities.
Pathania demanded connecting of Basantgarh-Khaned road to Macchedi/ Lohai-Malhar in Kathua district and starting the work on Dudu - Kailash road. He said road connectivity was a priority need with the people of three districts separated from each other by geographical barriers. He also called for immediate finalization of work on Ramnagar Basantgarh road-upgradation project. Mr. Pathania has sought provision of Ultra-Sound and X-Ray facilities in P.H.C. Basantgarh and a fresh C.H.C. at Dudu and Allopathic dispensaries for Punara, Mang, Balota Upperla, Charri Bangla & Parla Chakal. People of these areas demanded provision of staff for Higher Secondary Schools at Marta, Thail & Keya and High Schools at Dudu-Kirchi, Balota, Satyein, Kotwalt, Bainsta, Rang and Rasligaderan.
There was a pubic demand for inquiry into the construction of water-filtration plant at Raichak, which began leaking within six months of its installation because sub-standard material was used in it. People demanded immediate completion of water supply for Lodhra and selecting an alternative water-source for Ponara village as the present source had dried up. Ponara, Khaned, Raichak, Kidwah and parts of Lodhra villages are without electrcity. There is no P.H.E. employee in Khaned and Ponara villages for manning water-supply. People in Ponara have not received any ration for last three months and there is shortage of sugar in the area.
Prominent among those who accompanied the Youth Congress leader in the tour included Manzur Ahmad, Mulkh Raj, Bihari Lal, Raj Kumari, Tilak Raj, Sansar Chand, Rashid Ahmad and others.
