JAMMU, June 9: Ruksana's family has refused to recognise her May 26 marriage with Kabir Hussain. Reasons: i) Her hubby already has a wife and a six-year-old son, and ii) It was not "consummated".
Kabir is her PSO-turned-husband. He is havaldar in state police.
Originally a resident of Kalsian in Rajouri, Ruksana and her brother Ayaz Ahmad were conferred Kirti Chakra for killing a Lashkar-e-Taoiba (LeT) commander at their residence in September last year.
For security reasons, the family had later shifted to the Rajouri district police lines.
Kabir was given the task of protecting her and her family from militants. As her body guard, he accompanied her wherever she went.
And, as the time progressed and interactions increased, the duo developed love and decided to marry.
When her family came to know about this development, they expressed their unpleasantness over her decision to marry Kabir. But going against their wishes, she married Kabir on May 26 last, first in a court and then in a local mosque as per Muslim rites. Since then, they were living separately.
Her family has detained her in a room of their house so that she was unable to meet Kabir.
Another report, however, said Kabir and Ruksana knew each other for the last over two years, or so when the former was posted at Shahadra Sharief near Kalsian.
The report said Kabir was posted as her PSO after she had made a request to the then SSP, Rajouri, in this regard. She did so because she already loved Kabir, the report added.
"Yes, it is a fact that we had fallen in love much before the September 2009 killing of Lashkar commander by Ruksana," Kabir said and added it was she who had managed his transfer as her PSO from Shahadra Sharief.
"Even as I later got myself transferred to Kalakote, she got me retained again as her PSO," Kabir said.
He said Ruksana already knew about his first marriage and had no problem with it. Even my first wife had not any problem with my marriage with Ruksana, he claimed.
