Noted Dogri writer Dhanpuri pledges to write till his last

JAMMU, June 9: Renow-ned Dogri writer Tara Dhanpuri of remote Dhanpur area in Jammu had wrote three books on different shades of life included Chetna, Jeevandaan and Kai Janam, book of nine short stories. Touched by the human sufferings, feelings and continuous blood bath in the name of borders, religion or caste. Dhanpuri wrote mostly on contemporary issues of human interest. He was also appointed as advisor Sahitya Academy Board from 1997 to 2002 and at present he is president of Dogri Sadar Sabha.
His recent book "Lahu da Rang" is under publication, and is expected reach the readers soon. Tara Dhanpuri is presently working on more books. Commemor-ating his contributions in the field of Dogri literature, his books and works are also included in the Post Graduate department of Dogri, University of Jammu. One student also did M.Phill on the works of Tara Dhanpuri. On his passion about Dogri language and Dogri literature, he said "I will work for promotion of Dogri till my last breath".
Criticizing the state government for awarding various personalities he said "The awards has been awarded only to the blue eyed persons, government is doing nothing for promotion of upcoming writers and poets". He also said that much was needed to done for the promotion of mother tongue. Dhanpuri lamented the decreased use of language in our homes; he said "we should encourage the children to speak Dogri in our homes".
Dhanpuri further stated that the future of Dogri is very bright as lots of young Dogri writers and poets working for further enrichment of literature. About his early life, he said that he also worked in army for 9 years. He did his schooling from Government High School, Jourian in 1967. He could not opt for high education due to lack of sources. Dhanpuri completed his higher secondary and Graduation while he was in Army. He left army after serving for 9 years, in year 1980 he was appointed as teacher in High School Khara and completed his Masters in Dogri side by side along with his writing work.
