SRTC retired employees highlight demands | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 11: Coming down heavily on the management of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC), All Jammu and Kashmir SRTC Volunteers Retirement Association (JKSRTCVRA) alleged that SRTC management had misappropriated the CP fund amount for ten years since 1999. In a media interaction, president of the association, Dev Raj Bali stated that SRTC management had deducted the amount from their salaries but it was not deposited in their respective accounts and demanded the payment of pending 50 per cent amount along with interest at the rate of 12 percent per annum. He further demanded a CBI probe into the case of misappropriation. He also added that SRTC management had agreed to give Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) to 1200 employees on the pretext of surplus staffing but only 672 employees including 250 drivers have been given VRS while the management has advertised new positions of drivers. No criterian has been adhered to while implementing VRS and the surplus employees have not been identified. Association further demanded release of 60 installments of Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) for the year 2006-8 and the pending arrears, and the implementation of the recommendations of Sixth Pay commission in toto.
