NSF stages protest, demands independent probe | 'Purchase of fire extinguishers' | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 11: Stepping up of its tirade against the School Education Depar-tment, National Secular Forum (NSF) today reiterated its demand of an independent inquiry or probe through Crime Branch into the alleged fire extinguishers purchase scam. The activists of NSF staged a noisy protest on the Jammu University Campus and torched the effigy of the Minister for School Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed to express their resentment against the delay in announcement of independent probe into the matter. Led by Vikas Sharma, president NSF condemned the silence of Minister concerned over the "arbitrary and shabby purchase" of fire extinguishers by the school education department. Shouting slogans against the concerned minister, the NSF President Vikas Sharma question the credibility of the enquiry ordered in connection with alleged procurement of the fire extinguishers on high rate maintaining that as the enquiry is being conducted by the Education directorate itself. He warned that the NSF would continue its protest till the government announces an independent inquiry into the alleged purchase scam.
