Will my son's murderers be punished? | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 11: For nine long years Muhammd Qasim Beg of Bhadarwah has been knocking at the doors of officials, politicians an other responsible persons to seek justice for custodial death of his twenty-five year old son Mushtaq Ahmad at the hands of STF personnel. Disappointed in his long struggle for justice, Qasim's plea was finally heard by the National Human Rights Commission. In his petition to the Commission, Qasim Beg stated that on the fateful night of August 5, 2001, STF personnel barged into his house at night, and grabbed his son Mushtaq. They took him away from the house to a somewhat secluded place, subjected him to torture and then rained bullets on him killing him instantly. He complained that before grabbing his son, STF personnel threatened family members with dire consequences if they raised a cry. Qasim was thankful that at last the NHRC had head his plea sympathetically and directing the State Human Rights Commission to conduct an enquiry into the case and deal it in accordance with the law. As a consequence the police chief of Jammu has been directed to take up the case for enquiry and submit his report to the Stat Human Right Commission without delay.
