JU inks MoU with IIIM to promote research work

JAMMU, June 14: University of Jammu (JU) and Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu (IIIM, formerly known as RRL, Jammu) today signed MoU to promote Joint Research Work and Human Resource Development in Science and Technology.
The MoU was signed by Prof Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University and Dr. Ram Vishwakarma, Director IIIM, Jammu. The JU and IIIM are the two premier Institutions of the region having contributed in generating knowledge and technical know how since their inception.
IIIM is a premier CSIR institute involved in R&D for the development of newer drugs while JU is a premier academic institute involved in research and teaching. The faculty members and scientists of the two institutions have been collaborating at the individual level.
Prof. Rajive Gupta, in his welcome address said, "Signing of the MoU is the historic step towards institutional level collaborations." He further said that the MoU would synergistically benefit the students, scholars, teachers and scientists of the two institutions.
Under the MoU, scholars working at IIIM would be able to get registered for Ph.D. Programme under Joint Supervision of faculty of JU and Scientists of IIIM, Jammu.
The JU scholars would get access to the research faculties at IIIM, especially the high end instruments/equipments. The intellectual property generated through collaborative research would be shared by both the institutions.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the faculty of JU would be offered positions of visiting scientists at IIIM and the Scientists of IIIM would be offered honorary positions of professors/visiting professors. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Manoj Dhar.
Among others Prof. R.D. Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, Dr.P.S. Pathania, Registrar, Prof. G.M. Bhat, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Veena Gupta, Prof. Ashok Aima, Prof. J.S.Tara, DSW, Prof. Bansi Lal, Prof. N.K. Tripathi, Prof. Rajni Kant, Prof. Devanand, Prof. R.K. Ganjoo, Prof.M.A. Malik, Prof. Meena Sharma, Prof. Reenu Sachar, Dr. Yash Pal, Deans, Faculty members, Officers, Research Scholars, Students were also present on the occasion.
