| HC directs for status report on opening of school | | | Early times Report
Jammu, June 14: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed for the status report of the process of opening new primary school at Lalu Khetar in village Breavi Zone Kalakote of Rajouri District. While issuing notice to state and union governments and directors of school education Jammu and Serv Siksha Abhiyan, J&K and ors including ministry of Human Resources Development. Justice Mohd Yaqoob Mir, while taking cognizance on the writ petition field by the villagers of Lalu Khetar through their counsel advocate Ashok Sharma, directed the authorities that the process initiated for opening of at Lalu Khetar, shall be carried more particularly in light of communication dated February 3,2010 of ZEO Kalakote to CEO, Rajouri, while doing so, the SSA norms be strictly adhere to the High Court directed that the notice be got published in local daily news paper having larger circulation so as enable all, who have to make claim/ interest in the matter. As per press release villagers have claimed that the habitation is situate at a distance of four Kms away from the nearest school having more than 250 populations with 53 children falling in age group of primary education.
The habitation falls under SSA norms for opening of new primary school and the inhabitants were being discriminated by opening such schools depriving them not connected with road link, living without the facilities of drinking water, electricity and health care besides 100% population covered under the below poverty line.
