Students suspend strike

JAMMU, June 14: On the assurance of minister of state, Shabir Ahmad that he would arrange their meeting with the chief minister soon, the agitated students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University suspended their strike this evening.
The meeting was held at the Rajouri dak bungalow in the presence of deputy commissioner and SSP. Earlier, the minister asked the students to hold a dialogue with the university authorities, but they categorically refused.
In the meeting, students said they wanted immediate removal of the vice-chancellor, registrar and the principal.
They also demanded a judicial probe into the incident of firing on them allegedly on the orders of DSP Farooq Kesar.
When the minister assured to fix their meeting with the chief minister, they agreed to suspend their strike.
