Hanjura makes it to Supreme Court | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June, 14: The registrar general of Jammu Kashmir High Court has been appoi9nted as Registrar in the Supreme Court on deputation basis. Order No 142/2010 to this effect was issued on June 11, 2010 by Secretary General Mr. AIS Cheema of Supreme Court of India. Cheema stated that the Chief Justice of India has been pleased to appoint Mr. Maharaj Krishan Hanjura presently Registrar General of High Court J&K in the Supreme Court of India on deputation basis. MK Hanjura, it may be mentioned, happens to be the first judicial officer of the state who has been appointed as Registrar in the Supreme Court of India. MK Hanjura belongs to Tehsil Chadoora District Budgam Kashmir completed graduation in Arts from University of Kashmir and did LLB (Hons) from the same University. He was enrolled as pleader in the year 1980 and practiced Law up to the year 1987, appointed as Munsiff in January 1987, promoted as Sub-Judge in November 1996 and appointed as District & Sessions Judge in the month of March 2003, inducted into the Selection Scale in September, 2009, presently functioning as Registrar General of J&K High Court. He has the distinction of serving in segments of Registry of the J&K High Court. It is worthwhile to mention here that after appointment as District & Sessions Judge in the year 2003, MK Hanjura was posted Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu and decided a much publicized Birpur Land Scam in which he awarded imprisonment to the then Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and private persons.
