Hurriyat still ready for dialogue to resolve Kashmir issue | Himalayan features | | Ashwani early times report Jammu, June 15: Sharp differences persist between hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani and moderate faction led by Moulvi Umer Farooq on resolution of Kashmir issue and holding of talks with government of India. According to sources while moderate faction of Hurriyat conference believes that the issue can be resolved through dialogue and not through Bandhs and violence, the faction led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani thinks in opposite terms. The sources said showing its willingness to participate in talks and find a middle path in resolution of the issue became the main cause of the vertical split in the separatist Hurriyat conference over three years back with Geelani announcing himself as the chief of hardliner group. The sources said, the Moulvi Umar Farooq led moderate faction has shown willingness to go to any extent in holding a fruitful dialogue with centre in resolving the present crisis. This faction was willing to hold talks with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh during his recent visit to Kashmir provided the government had shown willingness for talks with the Hurriyat conference. However a senior leader of the conglomerate said that "we showed reservation to talks as there was no invitation from person to person". Prime minister said that he will talk to all those who shun violence and he did not made any special reference to Hurriyat conference, he added. He said that talks are to be held in a particular situation for which conditions are to be created. However recent Naidhal episode has shown that situation is not conducive for dialogue nor Government was working in this regard. Maintaining that dialogue is the only way to resolve the issue and reach some solution, the Hurriyat leader said talks should be based on sincerity from all sides including New Delhi, Kashmir and Pakistan. "we should have open minds in holding talks and not politicise the issue". He said "New Delhi has to perform a special role in it and we are always ready provided there is sincerity. We showed willingness for dialogue despite the opposition", he said adding "we did not drag the feet." On stand of Geelani's faction he said Syed Ali Shah Geelani has his own policy who says Kashmir is a dispute. "we started talks in quest of a better future for trouble torn people of J&K" he added. Our's is a four point programme to initiate the talks i.e removal of forces from cities - town and Bastis, removal of AFSPA, release of all detenues and creation of conditions for restoring people's confidence. Maintaining the previous talks have not been fruitful the Hurriyat leader said that New Delhi should come with open mind on table to address basic issues. He said J&K and Ladakh is a single unit and people of all three regions have a right to be included in talks. But present problem is in Kashmir and first we should address this issue, he added. Maintaining that POK as well as area given to China also form the part of undivided J&K's Hurriyat leader said " We have always open mind on united J&K". But First attention paid to Kashmir which is on fire, he added. Referring to Kashmiri Pandits who have migrated to other parts of country, Hurriyat leader said they are part and parcel of Kashmir and have the same right which the majority community has.
